Snively and Hahn’s Dissent on Mandating Masks in Hillsborough County Schools was not Enough

As could very well be predicted, particularly with the addition of medical reports from local health “officials” [who were as inarticulate as one could expect], the School Board of Hillsborough County voted to require masks for all students and staff with no opting out form. Fuck you to the parents who wanted a choice!

Of course it was political. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool. When has public school government education not been political? For every time that I heard “this isn’t about politics” or some derivative, I should have taken a shot. I would be drunk af right now which would make for a really funny work day tomorrow. If I am hung over will they think I have the virus?

If you spent the past 5 hours engaged in the show like I did, you would know it was a repeat of other shows. Passionate parents and community plants spoke. Medical people spoke. The Board Spoke. The Superintendent spoke. It was the circle jerk of the month.

Why is it that the Black member who represents the “Black” District sounded like he was part of that same old Civil Rights country-ass generation that repeatedly gets elected — not for any superior intelligence — because that’s who that people thought would get something done? Hey, maybe he has done things for the Black District; but looking at the youth crime rate and failing schools in that area…I’m not sure. That isn’t a fair statement, I know. But hey, at least he wanted the Black kids to be masked which, by the way, isn’t actually a problem at their schools. You would know that if you worked in the hood. The hood is used to operating in fear. Black people walk around with 1 and 2 masks in 100 degree weather, humidity, riding bikes, in the car and completely alone.

Snively and Hahn, you tried it. But you had to know that you wouldn’t prevail. Hillsborough County is blue and consists of a decent minority population — the notorious “Black and Brown people.” When you went in to this meeting today, you already knew that. So, I don’t know if you fought a good fight, or wasted everyone’s time. Mad respect though.
